November - In The Heat of Battle

Football games are physical and tough
and a win is never easy
Playing while hurt is extremely rough
and that's what happened to me.

A few weeks ago my ankle turned
and I couldn't finish the game.
Although we won, the pain just burned
I didn't think things would be the same.

I went through practice like I usually would
and my ankle felt really weak
However Sandy came as hard as she could
which postponed practice for a week.

This gave me time to recover slow
and prepare for the next game
I iced everyday until my foot was numb
and then the next game came.

That day I felt as if I were never hurt
and everything was good.
It never bothered me afterwards
and I played as hard as I could.

October - My Math Test

Math class is usually easy for me
but this year has been much different you see
The first test I aced and the second one too
but the one after that was harder to do
I'm not very good when it comes to graphs
that's what made the test harder to pass
At first it seemed like it wouldn't be too difficult
then my brain got as cold as an ice sickle
I couldn't remember the formula to use
so I asked Mr. Jacob to be excused
In the bathroom I stood there and collected my thoughts
and went back to class to finish it off
When I got the test back the grade wasn't good
I should have aced it like I know I could
Next time I'm just going to have to study harder
If math was football I would not be a starter

September - Digital Journalism

A class that ended up being harder than expected
That to this day has me constantly stressing
I try to figure out now if I regret it
Or if god is just testing
A few weeks in and I'm already behind
Articles due, trying to catch up
So many assignments so little time
The work just keeps piling up
So I sat down one day and got myself together
I wrote down a list of things I must complete
I worked on my assignments for what seemed like forever
When it was all finished, it felt so sweet
I realized that I have to finish things on time
Otherwise I'll end up in the same postition
I don't want to end up behind
From now on my work will be finished
