"Math Struggles"

Last marking period,
my grade in math was bad.
Mr. Jacob even told me
that he wasn't very glad.

I took into account
the work that I had missed.
I then began to realize
I've dug into a ditch.

My grade dropped too low,
and my mom wasn't impressed,
she yelled at me and said
"Get this issue addressed."

I went after school
and asked him for missed work,
and the list that he gave me
almost dug into the dirt.

I had a lot of work to do
and not a lot of time.
So I went home that night
and I began to work at nine.

Two days later
I handed it all in.
Once I got my report card
I had to go thank him.

My grade increased a lot,
but although I felt it was earned
I must get my work in on time
was a valuable lesson I learned

  2. math is probably the hardest subject to deal with and homework is almost always a homeroom thing for me so good job handling the missed work to boost your grade in time.

  5. Dante, it's so unfortunate that you were struggling with mathematics and not staying on top of your work. As Seniors we are the leaders of the school, especially a role model like yourself. I'm glad you got it together with some encouragement from your mother and Mr. Jacob, he holds genuine concern for his students and I'm not surprised he allowed you to make up work. But don't forget that in College, there are not many second chances.
I'm happy you learned from this experience and enjoyed reading about it, you were very clever.
Especially the comedic part in your fourth stanza "and the list that he gave me/almost dug into the dirt." That was so funny, keep up the good work Dante- we're all very proud of you.
